• The City & Guilds NVQ Diploma in Rail Engineering Track Maintenance 7597 – Level 2
• The City & Guilds Certificate in Rail Engineering Underpinning Knowledge – Level 2
• Functional Skills in Literacy and Numeracy
• IOSH – Working Safely
• HSE Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
Subject to successfully completing this training framework and passing a medical examination and alcohol and drugs screening (a legal requirement to work on the railways), candidates will go on to complete the Personal Track Safety and Track Induction courses.
These rail industry standard qualifications build on the city and guilds training course and are required for work on the railways.
On completion of all these learning aims our employer engagement team will arrange for you to be interviewed by a railway employer.

How long is the course?
This is a 15 week, full-time course: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 4.30pm, hence attendance is for 35 hours per week.How will I be assessed?
You will complete a minimum of 37 credits for the NVQ and a further 28 credits for the Technical Certificate. Assessment is carried out using a combination of practical and knowledge based activities.Functional Skills candidates will be required to complete an online examination.

Successful completion of this course could lead to further study in a related subject or a career in the railway sector.Entry requirements
