Unit Four
- Manage an active listening space
- Manage an active listening space that focuses on the other person's agenda
- Use counselling skills to focus on the helpee's agenda

Unit Five
- Use self-awareness to facilitate helping work
- Develop self-awareness and apply to the use of counselling skills

How long is the course?
30 weeks.How will I be assessed?
You will need to build a portfolio of coursework to provide evidence of your learning.You will also need to complete a Candidate Learning Record indicating where in the portfolio you feel you have completed the learning tasks.
You will be required to include a Learning Review which contains reflections on the input, discussions, experiences and readings for the course.
You will have an assignment , presentation and records of your development. Tutor observation forms a major part of the assessment for counselling skills sessions, case presentation's and group discussion.
Records of peer feedback also forms a major part of the assessment.
There is an external assessment designed to assess your understanding and skills as an observer of a counselling skills session. This takes the form of a short video tape of a helper in a skills session and completion of a Candidate Feedback Paper.
What does the course lead to?
This qualification sits within the CPCAB professional counsellor's training route.You will have an opportunity to progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies CST-L3 , which in turn can progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling TC-L4, which in turn can progress to the Level 5 Psychotherapeutic Counselling PC-L5.
