ABC Certificate Counselling Skills Level 3 FULL COST

Suitable For

This course is suitable for those who seek to train as a professional counsellor, or those who wish to acquire a repertoire of counselling skills for use in other work areas.

Course Content

This is a person - centred course, looking at the relationship between client and counsellor and related issues. The main areas covered are:

• Counselling skills
• Person Centred Concepts
• Comparative Theories
• Professional Issues/Ethical Practice
• Diversity
• The Counselling Process Beginnings/Endings
• Personal Development

Assessment Method

1. Internal assessment consists of three essays: a) Professional Issues/Ethical Practice b) Counselling Theory c) Personal Development 2. A weekly reflective journal 3. 80% attendance External assessment consists of a 30 minute tape - recorded skills session and a case study of 1700 - 2000 words.

Progression

On successful completion of this course, students may progress onto the Level 4 Diploma in Counselling.

Additional Information

• Students will be expected to attend two weekend sessions in addition to the 36 weekly sessions. 50 - 60 hours of self - study is also required to include preparation for assessment assignments. A weekly journal is also required with a summary. All students will be interviewed prior to starting the course and must be able to provide satisfactory references.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have successfully completed the ABC Concepts in Counselling Certificate or equivalent, and will also need to have an informal interview with the course tutor.
