Employability is embedded into the programme and achieved specifically through the ‘Professional Practice’ module. The ‘Independent Research Project’ module allows students to pursue a particular area of interest in depth, develop a range of transferable skills and provides a solid grounding for progression to Masters level study.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be based on coursework and will include a research project, written assignments, practical case studies and critical reflections. Some assessment will be work-related enabling you to apply your learning to a specific work-based context.

Graduates may seek employment in a range of related careers such as coaching, sports development, sports therapy, sports medicine, personal training, teaching or the uniformed services.

Progression from the BA (Hons) Sport Studies could be to the MSc Sports Coaching or the MRes Sport and Exercise at the University of Derby.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be invited to an interview to discuss qualifications, experience and any other related issues. Applicants will be expected to have a relevant Level 5 qualification in a sport related subject, for example a foundation degree, HND or NVQ Level 5 and evidence of literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2.
