Why study with us?

This course is aimed at paramedics. The aims of this module are to:

  1. Develop the necessary knowledge and skills required by practitioners who support students and colleagues in practice settings using a analytical approach.
  2. Prepare practitioners to apply considerable judgement when assessing learning and fitness for practice. Please note: The competence profile is submitted as an integral part of the portfolio.

Both components of the assessment must be passed. This module will not allow you to assess some healthcare students e.g. nursing, midwifery please refer to your professional body for guidance.

After you have decided which module you would like to study, you will need to check that you meet the entry criteria. If this module is to be funded by your employing Trust, the next step is to contact the CPD lead (training manager) at your Trust. They will then ask you to complete the CPD-Apply application. Once this has been authorised by your trust, the University will contact you with further information.

To be eligible to study this module you should be able to apply it to your practice. You must have completed recent study (within the last 2 years) or a recognised study skills course prior to commencement of the module.

Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module the participant will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate effective working relationships based on mutual trust and respect that recognises the diversity of all individuals
  2. Apply professional accountability and responsibility (with reference to your professional code) for the action of others under supervision
  3. Discuss learning and teaching theories in facilitating and promoting dynamic learning for the individual in your practice environment
  4. Analyse the principles of assessment and apply diverse methods of practice assessment within the context of professional accountability
  5. Model appropriate evidence-based inclusive practice using a reflective approach
