Selection criteriaTo be eligible to study this module you should be able to apply it to your practice. Please note this module is only available for Paramedics.
ModulesNMLB5010 Developing Consultation and Physical Examination Skills through Work Based Learning (20 credits at level 5)
Intended Learning OutcomesOn completion of the module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of the fundamental professional and legal issues which underpin the expansion of professional roles in the health care setting.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the key concepts and theories that underpin consultation models.
- Demonstrate and evaluate the use of a structured history taking process in clinical practice.
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of relevant theories that underpin physical examinations in clinical practice.
- Demonstrate competence in basic physical examination skills that are assessed in practice and linked to the competency profile.
The module will revise with you the law regarding your expanding role incorporating the relevant code of conduct. You will also be introduced to history taking and physical examination techniques. This will be underpinned with revision of the relevant anatomy and physiology. Evidenced practice and current sources will be included. There will be specific reference to Eyes, ENT, Respiration, Cardiac, Abdomen and muscular skeletal systems.
