You will learn about the different types of change and critically evaluate various management structures, styles and techniques. You will consider the techniques and tools used in project planning and control; the estimation, optimisation and evaluation of resources; and the methods of assessing performance and success. In this context, you will study the human response to change and how it can be used in pursuit of project objectives, the potential conflict between individual, group and organisational goals and issues of risk management, uncertainty and risk evaluation.
You will be taught through a mix of lectures, seminars and tutorials. You will be required to plan and organise independent study; use project planning software and other appropriate tools and techniques relevant to the scope of your studies; and collect, analyse and communicate relevant data. Assessment will be on the basis of assignment reports, presentations and an exam.
In the context of your studies, you will enhance your personal skills relevant to project management including team working and team building, quality control, IT and communication skills.
