Intermediate Engineering Skills Level 2
This course is for students with an interest in pursuing a career in engineering.
The course is a combination of Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 and the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Engineering and carries a number of mandatory and specialist units and a functional skill in English at an individually aimed level.
The course covers a broad range of engineering topics delivered in a variety of workshops and classes and include:
- Computer Aided Design (CAD)
- Mechanical Engineering (optional)
- Sheet metal and welding processes (optional)
- Mathematics
- Communications
- Health and safety

Entry Requirements:
Interview required
4 GCSE's grade D or above. Vocational qualifications will be considered on their own merit. You will be required to successfully pass an interview showing enthusiasm and commitment towards this course. Individual cases outside of this criteria will be considered on their own merits
Assessment:
There is continual assessment through a combination of practical, theory and portfolio work.
Progression from this course:
You could progress to an apprenticeship. Students who have been successful and hold appropriate GCSEs could progress onto the BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering.

Course Costs:
All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees).
