Entry requirements You must be employed at least 30 hours/week.Learners must be able to demonstrate the potential to achieve an NVQ Level 2 and have sufficient knowledge and ability to undertake training to achieve Key Skills and a suitable Technical Certificate. Who is it for? The Apprenticeship is for anyone who works in the engineering industry for example:

  • Machine Shop Engineer
  • Fabricator/Welder
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineer

Aged 19-24

Fully funded for employers with less than 1000 employees. For employers with 1000+ employees, please contact us for further details.

Aged 25 and over

Total People require employers to make a contribution towards the cost for all learners aged 25 years and over, embarking on an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship programme.

Duration 12 to 24 months Start date Available all year Assessment method You will put together a portfolio of evidence that will be assessed using a range of methods. Observation of real work will be used for all competence based units, in addition you will be asked to provide witness testimony and discussion and carry out knowledge based questions. Personal qualities To work in an engineering environment you will need to have the following personal qualities:

  • Able to work as a team
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Good practical skills

Further progression Once you have completed your Apprenticeship you can look at moving on to an Advanced Apprenticeship in engineering.
