Description

This course is for those who have hair and beauty therapy diploma level 1 or equivalent and people who wish to embark on a career as a Nail Technician.

This is a one year course, three/four days will be spent in college.
Units covered:
- Health and Safety
- Promote Additional Products and Services
- Advice and consult with clients
- Repair natural nails to improve condition and appearance
- Apply and artificial nail system
- Maintain, repair and remove artificial nail structures
- Tanning techniques
- Eye lash techniques
- Make-up techniques

Plus additional units.

Communication skills will be developed and assessed according to individual needs.

End Qualification:

Diploma in Nail Technology Level 2

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

4 GCSEs at grade D or above preferably including English and Science. Alternatively, successful completion of a Level 1 diploma in Hair & Beauty or the Level 2 Principal Learning Diploma is also acceptable. Applications from mature students without formal qualifications are welcomed provided they demonstrate sufficient interest in the subject. Candidates must have good interpersonal skills, a smart appearance and an interest in beauty and fashion. You will be required to successfully pass an interview showing enthusiasm and commitment towards this subject. Individual cases will be considered on their own merits.

Assessment:

Assessments are carried out using four methods, observation of practical competence, short assignments, oral questioning and written mandatory tests. A portfolio of work is built up during the course and used as part of the assessment process.

Progression from this course:

On successful completion of the course, you could go directly into employment in the industry. Alternatively, you could progress onto further qualifications at level 3.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information.
