Who is it for?
This is an executive level programme covering decision making on a wide range or risks, many of which will be complex and could be life or organisation threatening , calling for a high standard of technical and managerial competence. Completion of this NVQ Diploma demonstrates the ability to put theory into practice within the workplace.

Entry Requirements
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements, students must be engaged in a substantial Health and safety role within their organisation.

Length of Study?
An average time for completion of the NVQ is 12 months. Competence is assessed by proven results rather than examination.

Study Method
NVQs are completed largely at your workplace and there are no mandatory classroom sessions, however we provide a number of taught sessions at our offices in Bristol where candidates will be given specific guidance. There will by an introductory day held at Bristol, followed by Support tutorials which will be held at agreed intervals.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Apply management principles and practices to health and safety issues
  • Set practicable health and safety objectives
  • Recognise risks present in the workplace and be able to set appropriate control measures
  • Take account of risks posed by human factors
  • Ensure that adequate information, instruction, training and supervision is provided within the workplace
  • Investigate all incidents involving injury or damage in order to determine the causes and to take appropriate remedial actions
  • Communicate effectively on health and safety issues with management, operatives and health and safety professionals
  • Understand the main legal responsibilities of employers and managers and to act to fulfil them
