Painting Decoration Diploma Level 1

Who is this course for?

This course is ideal if you are looking for an introduction to painting and decorating techniques and enjoy a mix of practical and theory based learning.

What will I do on the course?

You will spend the majority of your time in our purpose-built workshops developing your skills in applying paint with brushes and rollers to a variety of surfaces. This practical experience is supported by theory based sessions delivered in the classroom. You will study a range of subjects including;

• Preparing surfaces for paint and wall coverings

• The application of paint and wall coverings

• Freehand brush work

• Broken colour work such as stencilling and rag rolling

• Safe working practices.

In addition, you will learn skills that are required in any career choice, including health & safety, confidence building, social and practical skills, and English and Maths.

What qualifications do I need?

• 3 GCSEs Grade E or above

• You should have a strong interest in working in the painting & decorating industry and demonstrate a commitment to succeed.

Are there any additional costs?

Learners may be required to purchase small items of personal equipment during the course. Prices and details will be discussed at interview. Bursary funds may be available to help with additional costs.
