Who is this course for?

The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful learners to lead groups of people in sport/activity, under indirect supervision; it is to prepare responsible, motivated and confident people who can lead safe, purposeful and enjoyable sporting and recreational activities for small groups.

What will I do on the course?

The qualification teaches generic leadership skills as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. You will complete a series of units as follows: Unit 1 - Plan, lead and eveluate a sport/activity session Unit 2 - Developing leadership skills Unit 3 - Lead a sessionto improve fitness Unit 4 - Adapting sports activities Unit 5 - Establish and maintain a safe sport/activity session Unit 6 - Organise and deliver a sports event or competition Unit 7 - Pathways in sport and recreation You will also need to complete 10 hours demonstration of leadership skills which is to be undertaken at the end of the course.

What qualifications do I need?

Entry will be by interview. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit. However, you will require to have a valid and current first aid certificate (this could be completed whilst on the course).

How will I be assessed?

The qualification will be assessed by different methods of assessment such as: Observation Questioning of underpinning knowledge - either verbal or written Peer asessment and participant feedback Notes or planning work completed during the course Performance of set tasks Simualtion Video/photographic evidence Witness statements

What equipment will I need?

You will require stationery, ie pens, paper etc and Practical Kit

Are there any additional costs?

Only if you require to complete a first aid qualification.
