The Retail Advanced Apprenticeship builds on your basic retail and
customer service skills and furthers your experience within the
retail sector
The Retail Advanced Apprenticeship is made up of the following
elements:
- City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Retail Knowledge
- City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Retail Skills
- Functional Skills in Maths and English Level 2
- Employer Rights and Responsibilities
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations
and practical assessments which are set at regular intervals
throughout the course, and you receive regular feedback. The
Functional Skills are assessed by an external exam and portfolio
work.
You will be learning the knowledge elements of the award through
directed study and one-to-one drop-ins with your assessor, and this
will include practical sessions. You will also work on your
Functional Skills, ERR and Personal Learning and Thinking
Skills.
You will gain a nationally-recognised qualification whilst gaining the skills and experienced required to pursue a career within the retail sector. The advanced apprenticeship allows you to develop the skills specific to your role or speciality within retail.
There are no formal entry requirements for this apprenticeship.
However, you will ideally have either completed the intermediate
apprenticeship in retail or have demonstrable experience within the
retail sector.
Upon application you will be invited in for an interview and
initial assessment to ensure that you are at the right level of
learning for the course.
The advanced level apprenticeship allows you to handle more responsibility and develops your management skills. The retail sector offers many opportunities for early career progression – you might think about job roles such as senior sales assistant, team leader and store manager.
