Course Length: Approximately 18 months Entry Requirements:Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for years. Applicants need to be; legally permitted to work in the EU, employed in a relevant job role and not taking part in full-time education. Apprentices who took their GCSE’s more than five years ago and did not gain a C grade or above will need to take a literacy and numeracy test. To start the Advanced Apprenticeship programme, you should ideally have five GCSEs (grade C or above) or have completed an Apprenticeship. This course is aimed at those in a supervisory role although this is not essential.
Core Skills:This course develops the skills needed to be an effective employee when working with children and young people. This course is recommended for employees working within this sector; who want to gain a qualification through a flexible combination of workshops and assessments in the workplace.
In this course learning is based around providing support, processes and services that enable the organisation to achieve its objectives and continuously improve its performance for children and young people.
Assessment:Training and assessments are delivered in the workplace with underpinning knowledge delivered in college. Assessment is via a variety of methods, including case studies, assignments, practical assessments and projects.
Career Progression:Career or academic progression may include continuation, development or promotion at work or within the sector and progression into higher education.
Full Description:This Advanced Apprenticeship develops the skills needed to be an effective employee when working with children and young people and is recommended for employees working within this sector; who want to gain a qualification through a flexible combination of workshops and assessments in the workplace.

Real work experience, which is personalised to each learner’s aspirations and interests, is integrated into the programme.
The Children's Care Learning and Development Apprenticeship Level 2 is built up of a framework consisting of: City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for the Children & Young People Workforce (QCF), City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Functional Skills Mathematics (QCF), City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Functional Skills English (QCF). There is a choice of units to meet the role and responsibilities and your assessor will help determine the appropriate combination.
Training and assessments are delivered in the workplace, except some of the content, which may be undertaken in college.
Measurable benefits include: better team performance; productivity targets met or exceeded; quicker response time and reduced error rates.
Costs:Training on the Apprenticeships programme is currently funded for apprentices aged 16 - 18 years at the time of enrolment. An employer contribution is required for those aged either 19+ or who have a level 4 or higher qualification.
