Additionally, assessment may be carried out by tutor observations
and/or employer witness statements. An assessor will visit you at
your place of work every four to six weeks.
This is a work-based course that builds the skills required to
undertake engineering activities in a variety of industries. All
aspects of the Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship framework will
be covered over 3 years.
You gain practical and theoretical skills including hand skills,
maths for technicians, mechanical or electrical principles, health
and safety and more.
As a guide, the Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable
for applicants who have five GCSEs grade C or above including
maths, English, and a science.
This is not a fixed rule but may vary according to the pathway
chosen (craft or technician), and the suitability of individual
applicants (some employers may demand higher grades).
You need to be employed in a related job role for at least 30 hours
per week.
If you have been working in the industry for a considerable time
and you and your employer consider that you may be able to enter
directly at advanced level, this may be possible. However, you will
be invited to complete an initial assessment of your maths and
English skills and an interview to assess your motivation and
commitment.
We will discuss with your employer the training they will be
providing in the workplace which will be needed to ensure that you
are able to complete this programme.
On successful completion you could consider further training in higher education (subject to requirements).
