The course offers a broad range of practical skills supported by the underpinning knowledge gained through the technical certificate element of the course in the key areas of Engineering • Mechanical • Electronic assembly • Working Safely in an Engineering Environment • Carrying out Engineering Activities Effectively & Efficiently • Working in Engineering • Carrying out basic Fitting Techniques • Carrying out Electronics Assembly The development of your personalised enterprise passport and enrichment activities fully enhance this course. How will I be Taught? The College will supply all tools & equipment in the training areas but under Health & Safety it is mandatory to wear a pair of overalls, safety footwear or strong leather shoes (no trainers). The safety boots & overalls are not supplied by the college. You will also require writing equipment, A4 lined paper & a large ring binder for a ‘Portfolio’. All students are required to keep & maintain a Portfolio containing ALL evidence of achieving competence. How will I be Assessed? As with all City & Guilds courses a number of assessment methods are used. The assessment of all units is continuous and normally includes some practical and written work. Each portfolio of completed work is also externally assessed by City & Guilds.
