The Programme
The course covers a minimum of five units or modules. The units
all relate to performing arts and acting, but some are aspects
which may be new to you. You will perform to a paying audience and
study methods of acting. Modules include devising drama,
contemporary or classical theatre, improvisation and physical
theatre as well as many others. Consideration is also given to use
of the voice and to acting auditions. The main aim of the programme
is to cover aspects of theatre productions. You will rehearse,
perform in and
organise these productions in and outside of normal college hours.
Throughout the two years of the course you will take responsibility
for costume, props and marketing while being advised and supported
by staff.
The Programme Content
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above. We recommend that these include English and Drama.
Costs
Some costs for texts. Normally we expect to provide costumes, sets, lights and theatres, etc. You will probably want to invest in make-up to support your own performance needs. You will be expected to provide normal learning materials such as stationery*.

Progression
In the past, students from our acting courses have progressed to higher education at establishments such as E15, Central School of Speech and Drama, LIPA and Rose Bruford. We also offer foundation degrees at Petroc so you can continue performing to a higher level without the stress and financial hassle of leaving home. You can complete the BA hons Degree and some students go onto to complete their teacher training.
Length of Study
One year for the Certificate or two years for the Subsidiary Diploma.
Academic Year
This course starts in the 2013 / 2014 academic year.
