You also get the opportunity to study an AS-level in either dance,
theatre studies, media, photography, art or graphic design. You
will study functional skills too.
Assessment takes place throughout the course based on individual
and group assignments, with an element of external examination.
Functional skills and AS-level qualifications are assessed by
coursework and external examination.
You gain skills in theatre performance and acting for film and TV and can gain an introductory teaching certificate if you want to pursue a career in drama teaching.
Applicants for a Level 3 programme will normally have:-
- at least 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including some subjects
related to the proposed area of study) and/or a completed Level 2
award
- the willingness to study for an additional Level 2 qualification
in English and/or Maths

interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will
have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the
programme.
Successful completion of this Extended Diploma course opens up a range of opportunities in the performing arts industry. It also creates progression opportunities for further study at university drama school or a specialist college.
Working in specialist facilities, you will take part in a number of workshops that introduce you to a broad range of the performing arts. The work will develop through rehearsals to produce performances and you will learn how to create successful productions. Projects include musical theatre, physical theatre and contemporary theatre in year one. In year two you will tour a performance, have the option to specialise, and finally perform your end-of-year show in a professional venue.
