Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating

The Programme

The qualification and content is connected with the introduction of Part L within the Building Regulations and on completion, candidates will be able to self certify their work under the Government Self Certification Scheme.

The award is made up of a short training programme centred around underpinning knowledge and is assessed by a multiple choice question paper.

The Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating qualification has been developed to prepare heating installers for the change in building regulations and to encourage them to have a positive attitude to high efficiency products based around a sound knowledge and product confidence. The Building Regulations 2001 Part L1 are broad based regulations covering the building and 'controlled services' equipment in new and existing domestic properties.

Entry Requirements:
The qualification is intended for qualified installers who undertake individual customer facing roles and who are responsible for advice, design and installation of energy efficiency heating and hot water systems. It may also be of interest to those people who specify the installation and maintenance of the heating and hot water systems.

Candidates should hold an appropriate NVQ Level 3/BTEC or equivalent qualification or accreditation and recognition of skills through an appropriate industry registration scheme, eg ACS, OFTEC, UKAS, GAS SAFE.
