The Programme

This programme has been designed to provide an introduction to the hair and beauty industry and will help students to decide which subject to specialise in at Level 2. They will also study Functional Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and IT and complete a qualification in personal and social development. This will help to prepare them for a career in the hair or beauty industry. The programme content includes styling womens hair; plaiting and twisting; basic make-up application; themed face painting; nail art application and colouring hair using temporary colour.

Entry Requirements

Ideally you will have a minimum of four GCSEs grade G-D (including Maths, English and Science). Good personal presentation skills and a commitment to learning are also important.

Costs

£50 salon fee, £250 for the salon uniform and kit, £50 for books. Additional trips and qualifications are optional and are approximately £30 to £50 each*.

Progression

Level 2 Hairdressing or Level 2 Beauty Therapy. Alternatively you could do an Apprenticeship in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.

Length of Study

One year.

Academic Year

This course starts in the 2013 / 2014 academic year.
