This level 1 qualification covers the basic technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry.

How do I Join?

• Take part in an aptitude test (if applicable).

What will I study?

Light Vehicle Maintenance – IMIAL Level 1 Diploma.

Technical Units include:

• Light vehicle construction and routine maintenance
• Operating principles of light vehicle engines, tyres, brakes, steering and suspension systems.
• Operating principles and maintenance of light vehicle transmission systems and electrical and electronic systems.

What support is available while I am on the course?

You will be allocated a personal tutor to help you throughout the course. The college also offers learning support and guidance.

Assessment Methods

The student’s knowledge is assessed by IMIAL set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMIAL set assignments and IMIAL set ‘on-line’ examinations.

Will I complete a work placement?

The College is committed to ensuring that all trainees benefit from the opportunity to undertake work placement. Industry links are also through the work placement programme.
