Summary:
The IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) level 2 Certificate is aimed at young people (16-18) who are planning a career as an Automotive Technician and have completed a Motor Vehicle Level 1 course or have GCSE’s at the appropriate entry level.

Core Skills:The course includes elements of Health & Safety, general housekeeping and industry standard repair techniques covering all the systems of the vehicle.
Key skills will also be delivered at the appropriate level.
Assessment:To successfully complete this course you will need to complete a number of practical assessments and online knowledge assessments. Your time at College will be divided into 60% classroom delivery and 40% practical/workshop activities.
Practical skills will be tested by a series of tasks within the college workshop. Theory knowledge will be tested by a series of on-line multiple choice question papers which are externally set by the awarding body.
Academic Progression:Progression would be onto a IMI Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Award.
Career Progression:The IMI Level 2 Award will help learners progress onto a modern apprenticeship programme with an employer.
Full Description:During their time at College learners will gain the essential
knowledge needed by today’s service technician. This qualification
will satisfy the essential knowledge requirements for NVQ level 2.

- Removing & Replacing Electrical Auxiliary Units and Components
