The Programme
This qualification is designed to increase opportunities for individuals who would like to enter the industry. The course develops manual skills and the student's knowledge of vehicles. Students are introduced to diagnostics skills associated with vehicle maintenance and repair, covering both practical and theory. The course is split up into units and is assessed by a practical assessment and theory related question paper. The qualification is made up from seven units covering the four main systems on a vehicle; engines, transmission, electrical/electronic and chassis.
The Programme Content
Entry Requirements
Progression route only from the Level 1 Diploma in Motor Vehicle
Maintenance & Repair, unless substantial prior knowledge and
experience can be evidenced which will be assessed at
interview.
Costs
Safety clothing such as boots and overalls will be required which will cost approximately £30. There will be a cost of £30 for work books that are required to complete the programme.

Progression
Students who complete the full time Level 2 programme can
progress to an Apprenticeship programme. Once employed they will be
encouraged to complete further qualifications.
