Is this course for me?

This City and Guilds course is designed for those who wish to teach Post-16 learners in further education colleges, adult education centres or the workplace. This initial award is a prerequisite for all people wishing to pursue a career in teaching in the Lifelong Learning (Further Education) sector. The course is introductory and does not require previous teaching experience or access to teaching hours

What qualifications or skills do I require to study this course?

Suitable experience and/or qualifications in a subject area Adequate literacy skills to cope with written assignments at Level 4. SECTION 1 UNDERSTANDING YOUR TEACHING ROLE SECTION 2 TEACHING & LEARNING APPROACHES SECTION 3 INCLUSIVE, MOTIVATIONAL LEARNING SECTION 4 PLANNING SKILLS & ASSESSMENT SECTION 5 MICRO TEACH

What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? This is an introductory course that will improve your confidence and practice if you are already teaching or wish to go into teaching. It is a requirement from September 2007 that all new teachers obtain this qualification. In order to become a qualified teacher or trainer, a further course of study would be needed, such as the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) or the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS). Progression routes will be advised to all trainees before enrolling on the programme as routes are varied, depending on individual aims.
