Is this course for me?

The course involves largely practical, hands-on learning with continual assessment in both practical and theory. Learners will be subject to continual assessment and externally set papers. Applicants should be enthusiastic about the industry and have some knowledge of special effects and media make-up. In some instances it may be more appropriate for learners to undertake the NVQ 2 Make up qualification as underpinning knowledge.

What qualifications or skills do I require to study this course?

Level 2 beauty therapy or make up qualification or relevant industry experience. Mature students are also encouraged to apply. Grades a-c in maths and english or equivalent

What does the course involve?

Practical based qualification to gain skills and theoretical knowledge required to a qualification as a make-up artiste in the media. Core subjects are: Character make-up, special effects and media make-up, hairdressing techniques for media make-up, wigs and postiche, relevant anatomy & physiology Learners also study towards an additional qualification in cosmetic make up, airbrush make up, camouflage and spray tan.

What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? Employment as a Make-up Artiste in the Media Industries. Level 4 Diploma in management and advanced techniques - theatrical make up.
