This course aims to develop a range of knowledge and skills which will apply both to students who wish to proceed directly into careers in advertising, marketing and public relations, and to those who would like to obtain further professional or academic qualifications at a higher level.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Typical applicants will be expected to have two Highers. Applicants should show an interest in and aptitude for the subject, or have successfully completed the appropriate nonadvanced College course having shown good achievement. WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This course is aimed at students who would like to gain a qualification in Advertising and Public Relations which will allow them to follow a career within related areas or undertake study at a higher level.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course is mainly assessed on a continuous basis and does not include an external end-of-course examination. Coursework takes the form of essays, reports, presentations, closed book assessments and projects. Most of the assessment of student work is undertaken by College staff.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Partnerships with several universities allow successful candidates to be considered for direct entry into years 2 or 3 of degree courses. Successful completion could allow entry to year 3 of BA (Hons) Communication with Public Relations and year 3 of BA (Hons) Media Studies at The Robert Gordon University via the 2+2 arrangement. Also, BA Communication (year 2 or 3) and BA Marketing Management (year 3) at Napier University.
Employment opportunities may include employment in the areas of marketing, corporate communications, public relations and other related industries.
