Applicants to show evidence of ability through: * Audition * Supporting Reference * Interview Project including supporting statement What will I study ? Students will specialise in dance or drama. All students will cover historical context of performance, performing arts business and participate in a graduation show. Students specialising in dance will cover contemporary, ballet and jazz technique classes, choreography, improvisation, dance appreciation, dance performance, healthy performer, acting and voice. Students specialising in drama will cover classical and contemporary theatre, acting techniques, audition techniques, TV and film acting, devising, physical theatre, movement skills, voice and theatre for children. All students will perform in the theatre spaces at the Artsdepot during the course. All students will perform in the theatre spaces at the artsdepot during the course. How will I be assessed ? Assessment will be through: * Coursework * Performances * Written Assignments All units are graded and an overall grade is awarded for the qualification. What qualifications could I achieve ? Applicants who successfully complete this course will receive a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, which equates to 3 A'Levels. What can the course lead to ? Entry to Higher Education/Foundation Degrees. Possible progression into employment or training within the industry. How do I join the course ? Please complete and return an application form to Admissions. An interview will then be set up for you. Will I need an interview ? Yes. Applicants must attend an audition and demonstrate ability and commitment to the chosen course. These skills are shown through a prepared scripted monologue or a dance solo in any style, to be performed to a tutor at audition date as well as an interview. During the audition students will be asked to choose either a dance or drama specialism. Applicants will need to complete an interview project. Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? No, but you may need to purchase appropriate clothing, costumes and materials throughout the academic year - your tutor will advise.
