For this reason, you should be really sure that this is an area you want to specialise in, and be willing to commit the time and effort to undertake the extensive vocational training involved. Although this qualification is a combination of all three disciplines – drama, dance and singing – you do not need to be a strong performer in all three disciplines to get high grades. You do, however, need to be a strong performer in at least one of these areas, and willing to develop your skills with a high level of energy and enthusiasm in all three areas.

The course has a strong performance focus, but in order to be successful you need to fully engage in developing the skills and techniques, and the rehearsal discipline necessary to prepare for successful, high quality performance. You also need to be willing to commit the time and effort needed for rehearsal and independent study in order to achieve well in this area.

There are no final examinations, but all aspects of the course are underpinned by coursework, research and written assessments which evaluate your work and your creative journey developing performance material. In order to achieve high grades these need to be approached with the same diligence as your practical work.

What’s involved?

You will have classes where the skills and techniques of these art forms are developed, and the appropriate practitioners and styles which need to underpin your training are explored. You will be encouraged to develop your creativity and skills working with others, and also your independent study and performance skills. You will consider how a performer communicates with their audience, and will also have classes where these art forms are integrated and considered holistically when preparing material for performance.
