This course enables you to top up your HND or Foundation Degree to a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Design.
This course is designed to suit students from the following specialist areas:
- Graphic design
- 3D design
- Fashion design or fashion technology
- Digital media
- Multimedia
It combines practical studio work in the students specialist design area with contextual & theoretical modules. Specialist studio areas are available for advanced studio practice and students will have access to supporting workshops. There is a shifting emphasis from group & studio/workshop teaching in semester one to individual tutorials in individual spaces in semester two.

The course promotes an enquiring, creative & challenging
approach towards the students work. It encourages the belief that
designers have independent thoughts, feelings, reactions and
attitudes, which they need to externalise and visualise within
theoretical work and practical design practice.
Students will work in both interdisciplinary design groups and
specialist subject-specific groups to encourage breadth &
depth.
In the context of this Degree course, design includes graphic
design, fashion design & 3D design. An holistic approach will
be given to design theory and critical analysis, with the
appropriate subject pathways being offered for specialist &
advanced studio practice.

Students should possess, or expect to achieve, ONE of the following in a graphics, 3D or fashion design related area:
- Foundation Degree (FdA)
- Higher National Diploma (HND)
- Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE)
Students will be invited to attend an interview with a portfolio of work.
