Individuals who wish to embark on becoming an electrician. The course will be offered as soon as the awarding bodies (City & Guilds & EAL Awards Ltd) have been given approval for candidates to be registered. It is likely that a modulular programme will be offered on five different modes, ranging from intensive, fast track, day, evening and two day per week options dependant on candidate numbers etc.

Course description:

  • Preparing and installing an installation
  • Terminating and connecting
  • Inspection, testing and commissioning
  • Dianosing and Correcting faults
  • Principles behind design
  • Maintaining

Assessment:

The knowledge units will be assessed by various assessment instruments depending on which is most fit-for-purpose for the unit.  This will include assignment and on-line multiple-choice and short answer questions.

The performance units will be most commonly assessed via observation in the workplace.

Materials Required: Comprehensive materials are provided.

Entry Requirements: GCSE grades A to C in Maths, English and a related subject. Mature candidates without these qualifications are asked to attend a informal interview.
