About This CourseThis qualification will teach you the theory and regulations of Electrical Installation which includes wiring systems, health and safety policies and the science and principles. Electricians work on a very wide range of projects, from bringing power to homes to taking part in major engineering projects. Their tasks can range from transporting data along fibre optic cables to programming computer-controlled ‘intelligent’ buildings and factories. They can also work with renewable technology, such as wind turbines or photovoltaic systems that turn the sun’s energy into electricity. As an electrician, you may work in one or more of the following areas: · Complex projects such as shopping centres, sports stadiums, hospitals and new housing projects · Advanced data-cabling, data-handling systems and fibre-optic systems · Computer controlled building management systems · Renewable energy systems · Control equipment for complex industrial manufacturing and processing To become an electrician you will need to have: · Good practical skills · An ability to follow technical drawings, building plans and wiring diagrams · An ability to work carefully, methodically and safely · An ability to measure accurately · A head for heights and willingness to work in all sorts of weather · A willingness to work in confined spaces · Good written and verbal communication skills · An ability to work in a team as well as on your own initiative · A flexible approach · Good problem-solving skills · Good analytical and evaluation skills · An ability to plan and organise other people's work, and motivate them. Salary range: £8000 - £30,000+ Average hours per week: 40
Additional NotesSteel toe capped shoes/boots and sturdy clothing to protect your body will be required.
Entry CriteriaYou will need to have completed the Level 2 qualification either full-time or part-time in order to qualify for the Level 3 qualification.
Progression DetailsUpon successfully completing your Level 3 qualification you will be able to enter the work environment or an advanced Apprenticeship.
