This course is suited to someone who has completed the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting course OR has previous accountancy/finance experience, relevant qualifications (A-levels), used to studying, OR with the confidence to start at a slightly higher level than Level 2. This course is offered on the following days: Gloucester campus: Thursday morning and afternoon. Cheltenham campus: Monday morning and afternoon Half day release can be offered by negotiation. Assessment is based on seven computer based examinations. In addition to attending college, students will be expected to undertake between 3-4 hours additional study out of college.

Entry CriteriaAAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or GCSE Maths and English grade C or above plus relevant experience. Students with previous accountancy or finance experience may sit an online skillcheck at www.aatskillcheck.org/ to enable them to decide whether to start at Level 2 Certificate or Level 3 Diploma. Students need to be employed in an accounting environment. All applicants are assessed at interview to ensure correct level of study. Students should enjoy working with figures and be literate and numerate.
Progression DetailsSuccessful completion will allow students to progress to the Higher Apprenticeship: AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting course. Once students have completed their AAT studies they may be eligible for exemptions from the foundation stage examinations of the UK Chartered accountancy bodies (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAEW) or they may wish to study for a Foundation Degree in Business or for a Full Degree.
