Individuals undertaking an electrotechnical apprenticeship programme of which the AM2 assessment is a mandatory requirement. Individuals who must provide evidence that they have met the assessment requirements of:- NVQ Level 3 : Electrical Installation Building and Structures or Electrical Maintenance
Course description: The AM2 Preparation Courses have been developed to refine, hone and enhance a learner's existing underpinning knowledge and practical experience gained within the electrotechnical sector to the required standard prior to the candidate undertaking the new formal AM2 assessment at an approved test centre.

- Introduction to our centre including site induction, health & safety and a brief overview of the areas of work specified in the NET self assessment checklist.
- The interpretation of specifications, drawings and diagrams.
- Risk assessment types and completion together with PPE and Health & Safety Requirements
- Safe Systems of Work, recognised safe isolation procedures and permits to work etc.
- The understanding and application of industry recognised procedures, working practices and the requirements of statutory and non-statutory regulations and codes of practice.
- Three-phase supplies and the selection of suitable overcurrent protection.
Installation & termination of the following:
- PVC Singles
- PVC Insulated/PVC Sheathed Twin/Three Core + CPC
- Steel Wire Armoured (SWA) Both BW & CW Glands
- SY Multi Flex Cable
- Heat Resistant Flex
- FP200
- CAT 5 Data Cable & IDC (Krone)
- Protective Bonding Conductors & BS951 Clamps
- Installation of 1 Way, 2 Way & 2 Way Intermediate lighting Circuits
- Installation of a Ring Final Circuit
- Installation of a Carbon Monoxide Detector
- Installation of a 3 Phase Direct on Line Starter
- Installation of an S Plan central heating system that has a thermal solar sustainable energy facility incorporated.
- Carry out an inspection and testing sequence of the installation test boards in compliance with the requirements of BS7671:2008 and appendix 6 model forms and the completion of an Electrical Installation Certificate.
- Fault identification and rectification practices and procedures on a range of simulated test rigs to include lighting, power and motor control circuits.
- The basic requirements for the City & Guilds Online Examination System. A practice navigation test can be conducted for those candidates who have not sat online exams in the past.
Course Material Requirements: Morris Services Ltd will provide all candidates with comprehensive course materials. Please ensure that you have obtained a copy of BS7671:2008 prior to starting your course. This publication can be ordered from the IET website, amazon, bookshops or electrical wholesalers locally. All candidates are required to bring along a non-programmable scientific calculator and standard stationary.
The cost includes:

4. Access to and the use of suitable tools, isolation devices, test equipment and simulated rigs
Entry Requirements: It is expected that all learner's have gained sufficient underpinning knowledge from studying such qualifications as City & Guilds 'A' & 'B' Certificates, 2360, 2351, 2330 or units from within the current 2357 qualification. Please Note that this short course is NOT considered to be suitable or of sufficient duration for learner's who do NOT already possess the qualifications along with sufficient industry experience in all of the assessment areas specified in the NET Candidate Self Assessment Checklist.
