Course Content
You will take three core subjects:
- Engineering skills for vehicle repair
- Essential working practices in vehicle technology
- Vehicle electrical & electronic principles.
- You will also take six specialist units:
- Routine vehicle maintenance
- Vehicle component removal & refitting techniques
- Vehicle engine system principles
- Vehicle fitting operations - brake systems
- Vehicle fitting operations - exhaust systems
- Vehicle wheels, tyres, steering & suspension.
You may be required to continue to study English, maths or IT as part of your course.

Progression
This qualification helps you to progress on to higher level qualifications such as a IMI Level 2 Award in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or BTEC Diploma in Engineering or A-Levels. Alternatively, it can lead to a range of Apprenticeships in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Engineering.
Entry Requirements
You will need 2 GCSEs (Grade D or above including Maths or Science) or the Introductory Diploma or IMI Level 1 Award.
