Heating and Ventilating (Industrial and Commercial) Apprenticeship

What's it all about? This Heating and Ventilating Apprenticeship is available to school leavers, those aged 16-18 and adults. Heating & Ventilating Engineers design, install and commission large heating and air conditioning systems into buildings including offices, hospitals, schools, shopping centres, leisure complexes in order to provide a comfortable environment for those who use the buildings. What skills and qualities do I need? A basic understanding of Maths, calculations and physics A careful, methodical and accurate approach to your work The ability to work well in a team What would I learn at College? How to install hot and cold water systems and various types of heating systems How to install pipework e.g. steel, copper and plastic using a variety of jointing methods including welding, crimping, soldering anf electrofusion How to test and commission the systems to ensure they hold the correct fluids and operate correctly How to weld pipelines using arc, oxy-acetylene or tig welding methods How to design basic heating and ventilation installations
