EAL Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pumps

This course is directed at qualified and competent plumbing and heating engineers looking to gain the knowledge and skills to install and maintain Heat Pump Systems (Non-refrigerant circuits) and those who want to progress in the building services sector to work with environmental technologies.

The qualification equips existing workers with the skills to install Heat Pump Systems, which can heat buildings using the ground or air as a source of heat throughout the year and will also help learners to provide best advice to customers on the use of Heat Pump systems.

This training course will equip you with the knowledge required to install, commission and handover Heat Pump Systems (Non-refrigerant Ciruits), including:

• Health and Safety
• Regulations and standards
• Types and layouts
• Components of the systems and their purpose, selection and sizing
• System performance
• Planning and preparation for the installation of an active Heat Pump System
• Installation of Heat Pump system components
• Test and Commissioning of an active Heat Pump System
• Handover an active Heat Pump System

What are the entry requirements?

• N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
• N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Domestic Installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
• N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Heating Ventilating (Industrial and commercial installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
• N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Oil Fired Technical Services or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
• N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.
• In addition, if not included in the above, current certificiation in relation to Water regulations/ Water Byelaws (WRAS or equivalent) Energy Efficent for domestic Heating (C&G 6084 or equivalent)
