Description
This course is aimed at heating engineers, gas fitters and plumbers plus associated trades who are involved in designing, specification, installation and maintenance of gas boilers, heating controls and hot water systems.In line with Government, world summit and white paper commitments to reducing UK carbon emissions, building regulations that became effective in 2005 will require you to demonstrate your competence to self-certificate boiler installations. Attainment of the BPEC Certificate in Part L Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating will help you to comply with this requirement.
How long is the course?
One day.How will I be assessed?
A day of classroom-based training in a single group concludes with the opportunity to undertake the energy efficiency multi-choice assessment.During the assessment you will need to use information contained
in the energy efficiency best practice in housing material, and it
is essential that you familiarise yourself with the contents of the
learning pack which you will be sent once enrolled.
You will need to study these documents before attending and bring
them with you on the day. To help you make the most of this
preparation time, we will also include a study guide, which will
help you understand the material you will be using during the
assessment.

The effects of the relationship between energy use and pollution and the costs and associated running costs of different sources of energy.
Practical solutions to improve energy efficiency performances.
Promoting energy efficiency options to consumers.
Legislative and other issues which support the drive for energy efficiency.
How you can comply with the latest building regulations (Part L England and Wales, Part J Scotland and Part F Northern Ireland) and how these apply to new-build and replacement installations.
How condensing boilers work and the differences between them and non-condensing boilers.
How installation requirements differ.
Minimum and best practice levels of controls as required by the building regulations.
Entry requirements
It is recommended that you have:At least 2 years industry experience in the installation of domestic heating and hot water systems
or
At least 2 years industry experience in the provision of design and advice services for domestic heating and hot water systems.
