Description
A course for beginners. Introduction to a variety of techniques. Develop the skills required for watercolour painting. A step-by-step exploration of basic watercolour painting. Introduction to materials, learn how to use them through various techniques and methods. Develop your skills whilst acquiring a practical knowledge about colour, the colour wheel, colour-mixing, toning and brush strokes.
Additional costs are incurred for the materials used during the course.

HB pencil, soft eraser, 2 jam jars and a pad of Bockingford 300gsm (140lb) watercolour paper. A further list of paints, brushes and any other equipment will be discussed.
Course Aim & Objective:
To introduce you to a variety of subjects and techniques for watercolour painting; help you to develop the skills required; improve your abilities and build your confidence expressively. To unlock your visual creativity and develop your personal style.
To enable you to identify a variety of washes, prepare colour wheels and understand the skills required to paint landscapes and flowers.
Assessment:
No formal assessment, continuous assessment during classes. Learning assessed with group and one-to-one guidance and discussion; you will be encouraged to practice areas requiring improvement.
On this course you will be develop the following skills and knowledge:
- Be able to identify suitable equipment and materials relevant to the subject
- Demonstrate a variety of washes
- Identify colour relationships, colour theory and mixing colour
- Develop basic skills for painting landscapes, eg. skies, trees, water reflection, flower painting.
- Explore composition and understand how it effects the painting
- Create texture using watercolour techniques.
Sessions will include demonstrations and one to one guidance.
