Who is this course for?Watercolour Painting - Beginners
This is a structured course for beginners and those wishing to brush up their skills. The course provides an excellent grounding of the watercolour medium. Students will be encouraged to practise and develop a variety of watercolour techniques and processes to help extend their understanding of the medium and develop their creative skills in this traditional, yet contemporary medium.
The course will enable students to confidently develop a personal style of watercolour painting.

Watercolour Painting - Beginners
This is a structured course for beginners and those wishing to brush up their skills. The course provides an excellent grounding of the watercolour medium. Students will be encouraged to practise and develop a variety of watercolour techniques and processes to help extend their understanding of the medium and develop their creative skills in this traditional, yet contemporary medium.
The course will enable students to confidently develop a personal style of watercolour painting.
The techniques introduced will be handling of brushes, paint application, washes, recession, tone, colour mixing, clout theory, texture and composition leading to a landscape/seascape painting, developed from photographic or other visual source material.
The techniques will be demonstrated by the tutor and include contextual information on artists to support the learning of the medium.
Watercolour Painting - Intermediate
This is a structured course which will enable students to creatively develop and use a variety of watercolour techniques and skills learnt on the beginners' course, using both traditional and contemporary water based mediums.
Students will experiment further with washes, colour mixing, composition aerial/linear perspective, drawing skills, texture, pen, ink and wash technique etc. Subjects will include landscape, sea/waterscape, still life, flowers and interiors/buildings/street scenes etc.
Students can develop their practical skills and ideas through individual project work, based on a variety of source material. Drawing skills will be introduced using a range of drawing mediums.
Instruction on technical skills in all drawing and water based mediums will be carried on through demonstration, contextual information on artists, one to one tuition and discussion.
In order to learn further technical skills and processes, students will be encouraged to carry out projects, based on group themes, organised and discussed with the tutor. Students who have more experience can pursue their own individual project ideas through negotiation and support from the tutor. Work can be traditional or abstracted.
Students are encouraged to celebrate their achievements through participating in an end of term exhibition.(This will depend on suitable venues).

Watercolour Painting - Beginners
The course runs for 2 hours per week.
Watercolour Painting - Intermediate
The course runs for 2 hours per week.
The course is on going for continuous practise of technical skills and support with developing art work.

An equipment list will be issued prior to the course commencing.
