If you want to work with horses, then this is the course for you. It is structured to allow you different routes into the equine industry.
The course offers the perfect balance between theory and practical based learning. It is a two year course and is equivalent to three A levels which can lead to entry into Higher Education.

Course Content
Year 1 consists of units which ensure you have good understanding of basic horse care:
- Horse husbandry
- Stable skills
- Riding and training on the flat
- Theory of equitation
- Animal health
- BHS Stage 1 training
Year two includes a study tour and organising your own show and has more specialist units to assist you in achieving your career goals:
- Equestrian teaching
- Competition grooming
- Event management
- BHS Stage 2 training
Training and exam fees for Riding & Road Safety are also included in year two and are a requirement prior to taking BHS stage 2.
Lectures and practical sessions at college, plus work experience on our yard. Study tour, guest speakers, visits to a variety of equestrian establishments.
Where possible, trips to Badminton Horse Trials, Olympia, may be arranged (additional cost involved).
4 Days a week- Mondays, Tuesdays,Thursdays and Fridays (TBC).
Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at Grade C or above including Maths, English and Science and one other subject, or a First Diploma in Horse Care at Distinction level.
A determination to succeed together with the ability to ride towards BHS Stage 1 level or Pony Club C+ standard. The Equine Centre has a weight limit of 85kg (13 stones 5llbs) for all riders.
