Course Content

This unit is about:

  • Investigating accidents, incidents and health and safety complaints and reporting on the findings of the investigation in line with statutory and organisational requirements
  • Making recommendations for improving health and safety in the workplace.

Two days in the classroom looking at the knowledge required: Legislative and organisational requirements, investigation systems, confidentiality, capabilities and scope, competency, communication and interview techniques, analytical techniques, reports and action plans, presentational techniques and the role of extenal regulatory organisations.

Candidates will be formally assessed in their workplace and will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence covering both the underpinning knowledge and the evidence of practical application.

Entry Requirements

None, however completion of a Level 2 Award in Workplace Health & Safety or similar would be an advantage.
