Occupational Health and Safety NVQ/SVQ Level 3 OCR Awarding Body OCR Course Details An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) is a qualification that assesses someone’s competence (that is the skills, knowledge and understanding they have) in a work situation. NVQs are based on national occupational standards. Each candidate is allocated twenty eight hours of assessment time with the assessor/advisor which includes the initial assessment interview. A Course for The OCR Level 3 NVQ/SVQ in Occupational Health and Safety is suitable for those whose role includes the area of general health and safety practice. All such practitioners are involved in the assessment of risks, the identification of hazards and determining strategies for control. There are a number of skills that they would all need and use, such as: Raising awareness about health and safety within the organisation. Using information to promote good practice. Maintaining and enhancing health and safety systems. Promoting good relationships to enhance health and safety practice. Entry Requirements The candidate MUST be working in the Health and Safety field and currently hold a position of authority over the Company Policy. On application the candidate will be forwarded an Initial Assessment, once completed the candidate should contact the assessor to arrange an interview. Assessment To achieve this NVQ you must prove that you have the skills, knowledge and understanding detailed in the units of competence. Your assessor will judge, from your evidence, whether you have demonstrated the skills, knowledge and understanding to the necessary standard. You do not have to pass a written exam or have any previous qualifications, learning or experience to be able to take these qualifications. As work in health and safety requires preparation and use of a wide variety of reports, including numerical information, you will be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy.
