PURPOSEThis pathway is for practitioners who are already or aim
to be working in areas of advanced cardiac practice. There are two
main aims of the pathway: firstly, to consolidate and improve the
practitioners understanding of advanced concepts in cardiac disease
and treatment and secondly, to provide practitioners with skills to
help them further develop their careers.
DESCRIPTIONThis pathway is designed for experienced cardiac care
practitioners who wish to advance their clinical practice, develop
their professional career and enhance their knowledge of research
and evidence-based healthcare.
The programme builds on your existing skills and experience to
enable you to lead and support the development and subsequent
delivery of evidence-based practice. The pathway will provide you
with an advanced understanding of cardiac disease and treatment,
applying it to advanced care modalities in the sphere of cardiac
care. By application of research methodology and evidence-based
principles the pathway will enhance your skills in these areas,
improving your ability to use these skills in practice.
This pathway forms part of an advanced programme that is suitable
for practitioners from a wide variety of areas, for example:
accident and emergency departments; cardiac care; intensive care
and high dependency units; primary care and general practice staff;
staff involved in advising on dietetic and rehabilitation of
cardiac patients. Students undertake core modules in cardiac care,
evidence-based practice, leadership and healthcare research. In
addition students select options from a range of areas including:
assessment skills; diabetes care and neuroscience care.
