Edinburgh Napier University has a track record of providing specialised educational packages in Clinical Research that are relevant and specifically designed for the clinical Research workforce. This programme is intended to meet the educational needs of new or experienced Clinical Research Associates or other clinical research professionals working within the Global Clinical Trials market. It is intended to facilitate Advanced Practice in this group. The programme has been devised with ClinTec International Ltd. who has a global reach and wealth of experience in managing clinical trials. This course examines relevant theories, regulations, legislation and is complimented by the support of industry experts in a variety of relevant topics. This course is delivered fully online to allow those with a busy working life to undertake the programme which is supported but a fully interactive virtual learning environment. It is will generally take three years to complete this qualification. There are intakes in Trimester 1 and Trimester 3. This course will advance your knowledge of specialist areas and develop new professional skills to a high level. What's involved A variety of teaching and learning methods are used in this programme and you will be encouraged to take responsibility for your own learning with support from academic staff. The programme has an emphasis on meeting real-world challenges so that practice is underpinned by sound understanding of relevant theory and evidence-based knowledge. The acquisition and application of knowledge and understanding is achieved through the use of online lectures/tutorials supported by textbooks, appropriate journal articles, specialist materials and web based resources. Learning material is delivered in a structured manner with the opportunity for discussion. Teaching sessions aim to facilitate an enquiry-based learning approach with you using experiences from the workplace. Throughout your engagement with the programme you are encouraged to develop your learning through peer and tutor interaction through electronic communication. Intellectual and practical skills are developed through the use of case studies and work based learning. Critical analytical, problem solving and reasoning skills are developed through the use of case studies, tutorial and online lecture discussions. Critical thinking is an aspect of asynchronous discussions within the virtual learning environment and in tutorials. Intellectual skills based on the scientific approach and the critique of this approach are features of coursework assessments, and discussions in reports. At the end of the programme you will be required to complete a dissertation on an area of interest related to the programme outcomes with support from a supervisor with relevant experience. A variety of both formative and summative assessment methods are used in the programme. Each module is assessed on whether you have met its learning outcomes. Formative feedback is provided to provide you with information on how you are progressing and to provide you with constructive guidance to inform your development. Assessment methods include the use of essays; OSCE portfolios; reflective analysis and legislation/regulation comparisons.

Requirements at a glance Entry to the course a) possession of a bachelor’s degree with honours; or b) possession of other qualifications or experience which demonstrate that you possess appropriate knowledge and skills at SCQF level 10. Potential students must be working in clinical research or a related field of practice (for example Clinical Research Associate, Data Manager, Auditor in Clinical Research) for a minimum of three months prior to admission; English Language IELTS 6.0 or equivalentFees Table No fees have been set up for this course Fees displayed are correct at the time of publication but the University Court reserves the right to make changes in fees at any time, and without notice, before or after the student's admission to the University. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and will rise each year during your programme of study, at least in line with inflation.
