What does the course include?

If you are going to be 24 or older at the start of this course, you could be be entitled to an Advaned Learning Loan which will cover your tuition fees. Please click here for more information.

This is a two-year full time programme giving an all round comprehensive offer of the subject for learners looking for a career in the public and uniformed services, including the:

  • Armed Services
  • Police
  • Fire Services
  • Emergency and Security Services

You will investigate what those working in these services do as part of their job role, how they interact and work together, and will be encouraged to consider their public service careers options.

You will undertake a range of units of study, some of which include outdoor activities.

The Army is working with colleges to encourage recruits to prepare for a career by supporting them on courses such as BTEC Certificate and a bursary scheme has been set up so that those who undertake the course and enter the Army can receive financial bonuses to support their studies.

What do I need to get on this course?

5 GCSEs at grade C or above or a BTEC Level 2 in Public services at Merit or Distinction.

Where does it lead?

Progression is to employment in the Public Services sector or onto Higher Education.
