As well as learning about public service during the course, you will be able to access both onsite and offsite facilities including an onsite 3G football pitch and gym and an offsite gym which the students are able to join at a discounted price. Four GCSE's at Grade D (including English), or a BTEC (or similar) Foundation level qualification at Merit level, or a suitable Level 1 qualification and a demonstration of commitment to the course and its aims. It is imperative that potential students are aware that they will be expected to behave and conduct themselves as if preparing for their chosen service.What does the course involve?
This course is aimed at anyone considering a career in the uniformed Public Services. It provides background information, experience and direct contact with Public Services including police, fire service, ambulance crew and the army. The course is to help the learner make an informed career decision and gain knowledge/experience of the entry requirements going into the public services. The course is taught by outstanding teachers and mentors with over 70 years’ experience within public services. The Modules studied will include: Employment In Uniformed PS/Career Planning For PS, Improving Health & Fitness For Entry In PS & Expedition Skills In PS. The course is a mixture of theory and practical lessons including lectures, practical lessons and tutorials; in addition, students will undertake work experience in the industry to improve their employability levels. The course will run on a number of days a week and will require approximately 12 hours of study per week. Continuous assessment includes assignments, written and practical tests and work experience.What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? On completion of this course you will be awarded with a vocational qualification. You can then continue onto the next level within public services the BTEC National or other Advanced level qualification. If you would like to go into employment there are career opportunities within the Armed and Emergency services, including police, fire and army service. During the course the students are regularly visited by industry professional that assist advice and recruit the students. Joining the armed and emergency services is a reachable goal.
