The qualification is made up of three mandatory units that enable participants to increase their understanding of this level of coaching and mentoring and to develop the skills necessary to assist their organisations and private clients.

In the first mandatory unit participants critically review their own ability to perform effectively as a leadership mentor or executive coach, engaging in peer mentoring to seek feedback and advice on individual performance. In the second unit, participants critically review the role and contribution of coaching and mentoring to individuals and organisations. During the final mandatory unit participants plan, deliver and review at least 12 hours of leadership mentoring or executive coaching.

All of our tutors have considerable industrial and professional experience, and use practical scenarios and real life case studies to work with employees and organisations on whatever challenges they face.

What We Offer

Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring 

  • This course aims to provides practising senior leaders and managers, or those working in a training and development role, with the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform effectively as coaches or mentors as part of their normal work role.

Having gained the Certificate, candidates may go on to achieve the Diploma for Professional Executive Coaches and Mentors (Masters degree level).

Our classes will typically be held during the working week.  This means that some study leave dispensation from employers will be necessary.

How does it work?

Learning will be delivered through group learning, action learning and one to one tutorials. Content will include:

  • Foundations of leadership coaching
  • Goal setting and commitment
  • Leadership coaching skills
  • Self-awareness in coaching
  • Planning and practice
  • Understanding preference
  • Group sessions, pre and post session learning
  • Critical review of own ability to perform effectively as a leadership mentor or executive coach

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but participants will usually be practicing managers. They should normally have successfully completed an ILM Level 3 qualification in First Line Management, or an ILM Level 5 qualification in Management or equivalent.

Exceptional learners with no formal qualification in management, but who have several years’ experience and have completed some formal training in the role, may also participate.

When are the classes held?

The level 7 programme will be delivered over 7 days (1 day per month).
