This foundation degree is for people working in nursery classes, day nurseries and schools ('early years' is defined as Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1). It will suit you if you are a senior practitioner or progressing towards that role, or if you are supporting teachers and pupils in a school setting.

Entry requirements
1 A Level or equivalent vocational Level 3 qualification such as NVQ3 or BTEC National Diploma and GCSE A*-C English and maths or equivalents, You must be aged 18+ at the start of the course and working or volunteering in an early years setting for a minimum of two days a week for the duration of the course. Employment in after school and breakfast clubs is not suitable for the purposes of this degree.
You will need CRB clearance.
Progression
Successful students who graduate with a Foundation Degree may progress into the final year of an Honours degree and access will be provided to the following named degrees at the University of Greenwich:
- BA(Hons) Early Years Education
- BA(Hons) Childhood Studies
- BA(Hons) Education Studies
- BA(Hons) Social Care
- BSc(Hons) Health Studies
- BA(Hons) Combined
Those who wish to train as teachers must have GCSE passes (A*-C grade) in English and Mathematics. If training for State Primary Schools, Science is also needed.
