Course Content
How it works
This is a two-year degree programme. In year one you will focus initially on computing, giving you a solid grounding in the practical elements of app design. As you progress through the course you will learn more about the importance of business, management and marketing principles.
In the first semester of year two students will study essential business skills at an advanced level. At the same time it is expected that students will now be developing sophisticated apps with a commercially viable end-point. The final two semesters of the second year will principally be project based.
The teaching style of this degree will be somewhat different to convention. Of course students will be expected to attend some lectures. However, our app design students will be placed in a very creative and interactive environment. We shall use many of the region’s leading programmers and entrepreneurs to conduct workshops and 1-1 sessions with our students in order to impart their knowledge of real-life issues and opportunities. These sessions will form an important and very enjoyable part of the student experience.
Assessment will also be different from what you might expect at University. We will introduce assessments that involve oral presentation and technical writing as much, if not more, than traditional examinations. The project work will also form a significant part of the assessment.
Above all, we expect our students to leave us with the confidence and ability to forge highly successful careers in the mobile software industry. Their knowledge could take them around the world or equally it could enable them to remain in the area and develop their own successful organisation.
